Dr. Azam Hosseini

Psychiatrist | Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) | Member of ACCT
My name is Dr. Azam Hosseini, and I am a psychiatrist and Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) with over 14 years of clinical experience dedicated to supporting individuals in their journey toward emotional and psychological well-being. After completing my medical degree and specialized training in psychiatry at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, I practiced extensively in both hospital and community-based mental health settings. Since moving to Canada, I have joined the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT) and obtained my RTC designation, which enables me to continue offering psychotherapy and
counselling in a professional and ethical framework.
In my counselling practice, I have provided support to a wide range of clients—individually, in couples, and in groups. I have facilitated therapy sessions focused on communication, conflict resolution, trauma recovery, emotional regulation, parenting support, and personal growth. My approach is integrative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Couple and Family Therapy. I tailor each session to the unique needs of my clients with the goal of creating a safe, collaborative, and empowering space.
My clinical background also includes working with organ transplant patients and donors, clients with chronic psychiatric conditions, and those navigating complex physical and emotional health challenges. As Clinical Director and Therapist at Mehre Razavi Brain and Mind Clinic, I was involved in therapeutic planning, treatment supervision, and direct client counselling—especially in areas related to anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and psychosomatic issues.
My work extends to individuals of all ages, including children with special needs, and newcomers facing cultural adjustment, couple issues, and emotional distress. Being fluent in both Persian (Farsi) and English allows me to provide culturally sensitive support to a diverse population, with a particular focus on Farsi-speaking immigrants.
At the core of my practice is a belief in the healing power of connection, trust, and evidence-based therapy. I am passionate about walking alongside my clients through their most vulnerable moments—offering insight, empathy, and respectful guidance on their path to wellness.
